Great Days Out in Falmouth, Truro, St Mawes and Helford

A network of ferries, boats, buses and trains linking some of Cornwall’s best attractions, walks and scenery. Choose the car free option when you next visit Truro, Falmouth or St Mawes.

The River Fal

Scenic boat trips are replacing car journeys in Cornwall with the Fal River Links car free transport network. Wooded creeks, bustling market towns, top attractions and some of the county’s best walks can be enjoyed without your car. Take a look at our suggested itineraries for some great ideas for days out.

Regular ferry services link Falmouth, Truro, St Mawes, Place, Flushing, Trelissick Garden and the thatched Smuggler’s Cottage. So jump aboard a classic river boat to visit Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum, Truro Cathedral or St Mawes Castle.

With twelve trains running daily between Falmouth and the main line station of Truro and a twenty strong bus network there really is no excuse to use your car.

If sailing or messing about on the water is your thing, Fal River Links also works with a number of independent boat-charter companies that offer boat hire, sailing trips, canoeing and luxury power cruise charters, giving you the option to explore the Fal’s creeks and inlets at your own pace.

The Fal area boasts some of the county’s most picturesque walking trails which, when linked with boat trips and good water-side pubs serving Cornish produce, provides all the ingredients for a great day out.

So if you are planning a day out, a school outing or a special occasion the Truro and Falmouth area why not consider the car free option?
