A brisk walk to Smugglers' Cottage from St Mawes taking in the beautiful scenery along the River Fal - the last remaining oyster fishery in Europe still to be dredged by sail and oar.
From the quay at St Mawes head towards the castle and then pick up the coast path north towards St Just along the shores of the Carrick Roads. When you arrive in St Just take some time to enjoy the St Just Church and the churchyard that Sir John Benjeman described as 'the most beautiful on earth'.
From St Just continue north alongside St Just Creek before breaking away from the river and heading inland. The latter part of the walk is on the road so take care.
When you arrive at Smugglers' Cottage you will be rewarded with arguably one of the best cream teas in Cornwall before catching the Enterprise Boat back to St Mawes.
The walk is just as enjoyable in reverse by catching a ferry from St Mawes to Smugglers Cottage and then walking back to St Mawes.
